Blattlhof

The Blattlhof is in a peaceful spot between Ellmau and Going, and neither town feels far away. A regular, efficient bus stops right outside about every 30 minutes. The centers of Ellmau and Going and the main ski lifts are about a five-minute bus ride, or an easy 10-minute walk when you’re not skiing. Skiwelt has 275km of extensive pistes, making this a great place to stay for a ski holiday. It has a lovely atmosphere and the family and staff give you a warm welcome. Service is perfect, with staff going out of their way to look after you. Dinner is a 5-course meal, and breakfast has a good choice of food and drinks. Rooms are a good size and comfortable, with TV, Wi-Fi, hairdryer, and safe. There’s also a sauna and heated ski and boot locker room. This is my 15th visit to the Blattlhof, and I see other returning guests every year too. That says a lot about how satisfied people are. It’s a super hotel for families and anyone after a quiet, peaceful, relaxing stay.

The dinner was surprisingly good for a hotel with this many seats to serve, and breakfast had a sufficiently wide choice, about mid-tier for hotels. Most of the staff were really friendly. The person I took to be the head of service looked after our group especially well, and deserves credit for my very positive experience. We were there with a larger group and had a fun stay. The hotel is a little outside the village of Elmau. For hikes and walks, it can be awkward to leave the parking lot: you have to cross the busy road in front of the hotel, or take a small path that froze over at one point and wasn’t much fun to walk down. You can’t hear that road from the rooms, though. All in all, a nice stay, and I’d consider booking again if I’m in the area.

The food selection at breakfast and in the restaurant was good, and they kept replenishing it. The family running the hotel were very friendly, and everything was spotlessly clean. Our room was warm, spacious, and well equipped. A lovely place to stay, and one I'd happily recommend.

We enjoyed the views and the local food, and the staff were very friendly. The hotel has a heated outdoor pool and a well-equipped wellness area where you can unwind. It's a lovely Austrian-style country hotel, right at the start of a pleasant one-hour hike to the Wilde Kaiser alp.
