Pension Golingen

The room was basic, and the bathroom was very cramped. The shower cubicle was so small I couldn’t turn around in it. There weren’t any tea or coffee facilities, only an overpriced mini bar. The single bed’s duvet was too small. I’m not a big guy, but I struggled to stay covered all night and barely slept during my stay.

Avoid Room 301. After the first night I had three bites, and after the second I had seven. I couldn’t tell at first if they were from a spider or mosquitoes, but they looked like bed lice. The hotel should change the mattresses or find a way to get rid of them. Thankfully, my three year old son wasn’t bitten. The booking was made by a third party that invited us to an event, and they hadn’t mentioned our toddler. The owner was upset that we hadn’t notified him. I explained that I hadn’t made the booking, apologized for the inconvenience, and said I was willing to move rooms since our son likes to sleep in the same bed with us. He still kept scolding me. The traffic noise was also getting to us after the second night. The hotel is on the only main traffic road, which completely ruins the feel of the otherwise beautiful, peaceful village. I asked to cancel our third night and find somewhere quieter, and the owner was even ruder then. I’d been polite, and with seven strange bites I felt I had a fair reason to leave. This was unacceptable, and we’ll never stay here again.

The view is breathtaking, the food is delicious, and the staff are very kind. The rooms are clean too. The only downside was having to wait 2-3 minutes for hot water. A good experience overall.

The staff are friendly, and everything was very clean. The room was tidy, and breakfast was tasty, fresh, and had plenty of variety, including muesli, cheese, yogurt, and fruit. The coffee was good too.
