a&o Graz Hauptbahnhof - Hostel

Parking was easy thanks to the large lot, and public transport connections were good. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and very friendly. I had a pleasant stay and thought it was good value for the price. I'd gladly return.

The room was cramped, and both it and the bedding smelled as if nobody had cleaned in a month. There was no luggage locker. The small locker cost 4 euro for 24 hours and supposedly allowed free reopening, but it failed: I paid at 11 PM, and at 10:30 the next morning it kept the key and wouldn't give it back. The front desk said they couldn't refund me or do anything, and had a bad attitude when I asked. In the six-person room there was only one visible outlet, by the bathroom. I found another behind the bed, but it was too close to the frame to use unless I moved the bunk bed, which would've been difficult with someone sleeping in it. The adapter on the bunk bed didn't work either. Awful layout and experience. I wouldn't stay at this hostel again.

The bar was clean and tidy, and the staff there paid attention without hovering. Inside, the building felt bright, pleasant, and orderly, much nicer than I expected, while still feeling relaxed rather than overly formal. The location was convenient, with everything nearby. At reception, everyone seemed to put in real effort, especially Kristina. She explained things calmly, helped with small tasks that would have stressed me out alone, and was warm and sincere throughout. After a long trip, her welcome made me feel truly glad to be there. The organization and atmosphere were great, and the prices felt justified. I was very satisfied and would definitely come back. 😊

It was clean enough and pleasant, though the upkeep could be better. The windows don't open all the way, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear people in the hallway. They didn't answer my calls beforehand. Seems like a good option for a short stay.
