We enjoyed the charming, attentive service, and when the weather’s good there’s a cozy outdoor dining area. It’s a family-run hotel and restaurant, with a range of well-kept rooms and a generous breakfast for hotel guests. The restaurant has a changing lunch menu during the week and a choice of excellent regional, seasonal dishes in the evening. A good option for a meal or an overnight stay while visiting Graz, with a bus stop right outside.

We only had dinner and didn’t stay overnight. Bauernwirt is a lovely old local restaurant and hotel, a little way from the center of Graz. If you’re interested in local food and restaurants, I’d suggest giving it a try. We ordered the mixed plate, though I can’t remember what it was called. It was meant for 2-3 people but could easily feed 3-4. We barely finished it without ordering starters, and were too full to try dessert. Prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly.

The food was really tasty, and breakfast was the kind that gets you up early so you don’t miss it. The warm country feel, floral touches and welcoming hospitality made the stay especially pleasant. I’ll be back.

The food was bad, the fries were far too salty, and it was very expensive. They spilled our drinks and still made us pay for them. When we objected, she said, “your problem.”
