Plaza Inn Graz City

We had a very satisfying few days, and all the staff were friendly. One small gesture from the Slovenian woman at reception, who also serves at the bar, really stood out. Before making our cocktails, she washed every piece of fruit, dried it, and only then cut it up for the drinks. With fruit passing through so many hands, that care was especially welcome and is something you rarely see. We’ll definitely come back 😊

The breakfast buffet had a great spread, from eggs, bacon and frankfurters to cheese, ham, fruit and croissants. It wasn’t included in the room rate, but I hadn’t known what nearby options there’d be when I booked, so that was fine. The small bar was popular with other fans, had plenty of seating, and served what was probably the best beer of my whole trip. I was in Graz for a midweek football match, and the location worked perfectly, an easy walk to the ground and close to a tram stop for the city centre. The rooms were on the small side but functional and had what I needed for a comfortable stay. They were clean, as you’d expect in Austria. It was a little warm, but opening the window would have brought in street noise, which is normal for a city hotel. I wasn’t expecting much of an Austrian feel, though that hardly mattered. The reception staff were exceptionally welcoming and happy to give local information. It was very reasonably priced, and I was glad I chose it. I’d make it my first choice if I’m lucky enough to visit Graz again.

No hot water for a bath, and that completely ruined the hotel stay. The room was clean and fine, and breakfast was decent but nothing special. Staff mentioned heating problems, but people had apparently reported the same issue a week earlier, so there’s no excuse for it not being fixed.

We travel all over and have stayed in plenty of hotels, but we’ve never met a waitress as friendly as the one working at your place. We stopped in for a drink around midnight on Saturday, and she was smiling, pleasant, and full of energy while serving about 30 people. She treated us just as warmly and handled everything professionally. We’d happily come back as hotel guests because of her. The best part was finding out she was Slovenian, just like us!
