The food and wine were both great, traditional, and good value for the price. I came on a local friend's suggestion and was blown away by the scenery. I hadn't expected an English menu in a place that doesn't get many tourists. I also discovered there's a small hotel here and asked to see the rooms. The old building looks a little like a chapel, and it has one inside. I loved how the modern design works with the older architecture. It's quite romantic, and I'd stay here next time I'm in Austria.

Out in the countryside, but very well connected to the main cities. It's a lovely place to enjoy the quiet, nature, and the beautiful renovation, with plenty of privacy and a wonderful atmosphere.

The little town and its scenery are breathtaking, and it's about a 45-minute train ride from Vienna city center. Not many tourists seem to know Thalern, so it feels like a real taste of Viennese culture rather than a tourist trap. I've been coming here for around five years. The restaurant feels genuinely Austrian, especially its chicken, called backhändle in German. They make their own wines in the cellar from grapes grown around the restaurant, and you can taste them there. There are red and white options, from sweet to less sweet. The food and wine are outstanding, and the staff are very friendly. Their English is fair.
