We needed somewhere outside Vienna for our first night and arrived at a beautiful castle. The room was pleasant, with old-fashioned decor, and breakfast was tasty and included in the price. We got a spacious room with a double bed and a pull-out bed for a child, plus a separate small room with a single bed. The bathroom was small but clean. There wasn’t a check-in desk open in the evening, but we called and someone came to let us in.

I’ve stayed at this castle twice, and it’s such a wonderful place. It’s beautifully maintained, and you really feel its connection to the past. The host is super friendly and gave me a bottle of wine on my second stay. Everything was clean, and breakfast was fantastic, especially the fresh orange juice and surprisingly good coffee.

Our room, number 102, was spotless and very spacious, with a balcony overlooking the vineyards. It was simple but practical, and had everything we needed. The hotel is a fascinating former monastery beside the church, at the top of the charming little town of Gumpoldskirchen, with beautiful vineyards nearby. The staff were exceptional, especially the hotel manager. Breakfast was nice, and you can order fried or scrambled eggs. Schloss Gumpoldskirchen is very well run, with simple but pleasant rooms and a high level of personal service. We loved our stay and highly recommend it.
