Pension Schösserhof

A lovely family and a great place to stay. The cows are a big hit with kids.

The skiing in Zillertal was perfect, but the accommodation was bad. The house was generally dirty and smelly, and the food was basic, poor quality, and seemed to be the cheapest products. Breakfast was mortadella, salami, speck, hard cheese, one egg per person, a little butter, coffee or tea, no cocoa, apple, banana, tasteless yogurt, Kaiser rolls, and bread. Dinner was pizza with ice cream, spätzle with ice cream, panga fish with ice cream, or pork chop with ice cream. Soup appeared twice during the week, but then dessert was cancelled. I'd never before experienced being asked to choose between soup and dessert. We were all hungry after dinner. The tablecloth wasn't changed once all week. The owner, the lady called "Makbet," was arrogant and very angry when we asked for more food. Our rooms weren't cleaned during the week either. Tampons and sanitary pads were left in the bathroom for two days. Some rooms don't have a bathroom in the room, but have one elsewhere. I wasn't told that and was charged as if it were a standard room. The ski room was really a boot room next to the cowshed, awful, and the internet was slow. My advice is to find somewhere better.

We are very disappointed. The owner kept our €1,390 fee for four days even though there had been a death in the family. He acted as if he couldn't speak English, although he had spoken it with my friend. It felt very unfair.

Our children love spending time on the farm, especially with the cows and Heidi the goat, and they enjoy helping out in the barn. We've stayed both at Pentecost and again in the fall. Breakfast is simple, but delicious, and the homemade bacon is fantastic. Everyone is friendly and attentive, with good suggestions for excursions. We'll be back soon!
