Pension Trojerhof

We were a family of five, including three young boys, and the playground out front was a big hit with them, especially the nice trampoline. The location has great views and is within 10 minutes of the hiking trails, shops, ski lifts, restaurants, and just about anything else you might need. Our room was nice, and the hospitality was phenomenal from arrival to departure. We hope to come back in winter for the sauna and snow-covered city.

Free parking, a fantastic balcony view, and a short walk to the village center. The room was spotless and in mint condition, and breakfast was excellent. The staff were super friendly.

The breakfast spread was tasty and had plenty to choose from, and there’s a spacious room for skis and boots. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and everything was clean and tidy. From the front of the hotel you can see Heiligenblut church with Grossglockner behind it, though only some rooms have that view. Dinner offers a choice of vegetarian or meat-based dishes, but it’s served early, between 7 and 8 pm, which didn’t suit my personal routine. The ski lift valley station is in the village center, a 5-10 minute walk away. One of the better options for value, and highly recommendable.

The apartment is fine and has what you need, but don’t expect daily cleaning or standard hotel toiletries, there was only a bar of soap. The location is very good, a five-minute walk from the ski lift, with a beautiful view of the Grossglockner. I didn’t feel welcome, though. One evening, February 14, two female friends of the owner were drinking at the bar as I came in for dinner. They stared at me and my three-year-old daughter, asked the owner about my family, and clearly talked about me with contempt. I don’t know what I had done to prompt the staring and snickering, but it felt awful. The WiFi is very weak and unreliable, so don’t count on doing work that needs more than 2mb bandwidth. There’s also a sign at breakfast warning guests not to take food away, and saying that anyone brazen enough to pack a sandwich will have it added to their bill, with three exclamation marks for emphasis. Maybe people taking twenty sandwiches happens, but I doubt it happens often enough to need such an unfriendly sign to scare everyone off. The place could use much more warmth, kindness, and generosity alongside its politeness and efficiency. Reply to Owner: Yes, I have stayed with you. Familie Margueritte, February 2019.
