Hotel Hubertushof

We came with the family for cycling and hiking and were pleased with everything. The hotel is peaceful, with beautiful views and two lifts right nearby. Every part of the place felt clean, tasteful, and cozy. The wellness area was fantastic, and the staff were kind and helpful throughout.

The ski storage room is spacious and modern, but without locks on the lockers, it misses the basic point of being a locker room. The hotel is close to one of the area's best gondolas, which is convenient, though getting there in ski boots means crossing a slippery car park. The food is authentic Austrian cooking, which I appreciated. They do charge for tap water, a common practice in Austria, but I still find it contentious. Water feels like a basic need, especially for skiers. The price should also be clearly shown on the menu in Austria, and it wasn't here. There's a kind of yin-yang quality to the hotel: each good point seems to come with a downside. These issues may be relatively minor, and the hotel could address them quickly if it wanted to. One last concern is the gap between saying dogs are allowed and the notice we were given. It threatens a 200EUR fee and says guests must take the sheets home and wash them if any dog hairs are found. Even for people without pets, that notice makes the place feel less welcoming. It doesn't fit the idea of pet-friendly accommodation, where guests with dogs are made welcome without onerous penalties. A more considerate policy would better reflect genuine hospitality. And what if a passerby asked for water? Refusing free water seems morally wrong, while giving it to a passerby but charging guests raises its own questions. To me, offering free water to everyone would be fairer and more welcoming. Other places do this, and it seems like a sound business choice.

They were quick to help whenever we had a question, which is what good hospitality should be. Charging our car in their private parking worked perfectly too.

The cable car and slope are just 100 m away. The Hotel has a great location and bar, and the rooms have been renovated really nicely.
