A lovely, cozy place to stay for skiing. The rooms are clean and nice, though the pillows are a little thin. I’d definitely recommend these apartments.

The owners welcome pets, which is a real plus. It’s a cozy, clean place that works well for families with kids, couples, or groups of friends. Nature all around is captivating from the first look, and getting places is easy: the ski bus stops right outside, and town and the slopes are five minutes away by car or ski bus. Trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking, as well as via ferratas, are all around.

For €75 a night, Apartment 2 at Ruflik was the worst value for money and my worst experience in Austria. We barely slept: the mattress was badly worn, the bed creaked whenever we moved, and the bedding was poor quality. There was almost no room to put anything, with no shelves. Getting to the bathroom means crossing the hallway, where you can run into neighbors from the other two apartments. The shower, toilet, sink, and door all looked dirty, though I couldn’t tell if they hadn’t been cleaned or were simply very old.

For 200 euros a night, Apartment No. 3 was a shock: a tiny kitchen, two beds, and a micro shower and toilet. The odd sliding bathroom doors were tight and damaged, parking was bad, and there was mud and mess outside. The kitchen equipment was so poor I’d advise bringing your own knife. The house and its interior look bizarre, and noise carries everywhere, so hallway noise is hard to avoid. This felt like a hostel, and I can’t understand how anyone can justify that price.
