Chalet Ursteinhütte

The owners were so helpful, even bringing us a high chair and a crib at no charge. We also found four sleds, a bobsled, and other useful things that weren’t listed on the booking portal, so we could have packed less. The cabin has plenty of space and the kitchen is well stocked. Upstairs can get a little noisy because of the gallery, though it didn’t spoil our stay. Getting there in winter was tricky with small children, and four-wheel drive might have let us get closer. Still, the effort was worth it. It’s a secluded cabin that was lovingly gutted, modernized, and rebuilt.

We had a perfect holiday in a remarkably quiet natural setting. The cabin is beautifully furnished and feels special. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, and we’ll definitely come back.

We were eight, two families with teenagers aged 15 to 19, and both stays were comfortable. The layout of the bedrooms, bathrooms, and toilets worked really well, and the cabin felt airy, cozy, modern, and Alpine. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, with excellent fridge and freezer space. We spent time by the fireplace playing games or chopping vegetables, and often sat at the bench and table outside for coffee, après-ski, or a late look at the stars. Jacob was a great host, quick to respond and very helpful, even with shopping. The first winter our car couldn’t make the snowy transfer, so he drove us the last hundred meters in his big vehicle. We’ve stayed for a week in each of the last two winters and want to return, hopefully in summer too. We’d hesitated at first about the drive, but the setting won us over. The view of nature and quiet stretches in every direction. One year it snowed each morning, and we walked the last five minutes to the cars through fresh snow. The next year we could drive almost all the way up, though we were nearly sorry to miss the lovely snowy walk with the lake in view. Even the first year, when there was no internet, the kids were keen to come back.

The owners were really friendly, and the cabin is well equipped and wonderfully tucked away 👌🏼
