After visiting the Abbey, we stopped for lunch on a cold, grey day. The restaurant has a more modern interior, but the food was traditional and regional. We each had different dishes and some local beer, and all enjoyed them. Service was cheerful and responsive. A great place to eat in Melk.

We stopped on the drive from Vienna to Salzburg, and this was one of our top three meals in Austria. Great service, too. Treat yourself to some real ice cream.

The food and service are amazing, with authentic regional dishes and a good wine selection. The hotel and restaurant are in a historic building that used to be the old post office. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Melk.
