The location worked well as a base for cycling, though the lake is quite far away if you want to swim every day. This b&b is fine for anyone happy with the basics, but it isn't a place for luxury. Breakfast is continental and quite okay, and there's wine in the upstairs fridge that you can take and have charged to your room. A couple of things bothered me: the shower head wouldn't stay put, and there was no window at the back. It can get pretty hot, so the choice is to turn on the air conditioning or accept people walking around at arm's length from the bedside. I'd rate it 3.5 stars.

We had a wonderful few days in Ilmitz. The apartments are spacious and breakfast is generous. The owners are warm, friendly, and very attentive, making sure guests feel at ease. It's easy to see why so many people return.

A lovely place to stay, and the wine cabinet is great. For me, Sämling 88 Spätlese is the best sweet wine in all of Burgenland.

The whole property, courtyard included, is cozy and well kept, and the rooms and apartments are spacious, comfortable, and really lovely. The Haider couple welcome you warmly and take care of their guests around the clock. We liked ending the evening on the terrace with a glass of fine wine from a local vintner. Breakfast was excellent and varied. By the time you leave, you're already looking forward to coming back.
