A stay at the so-called ‘Hotel’ Max Kaiser in Innsbruck was the worst experience we’ve had in all our travels. In my view, this place is a tourist trap and a scam. I’d tell anyone who values their money, peace of mind, and dignity not to stay here. We were six adults with two one-year-old babies. We hadn’t included the infants in the original reservation, which became the trigger for a nightmare, though most hotels don’t even question that, in my experience. At check-in, the receptionist refused to let us in, saying we had more people than the reservation allowed. We explained about the babies and offered to pay any extra fees. We even offered to have two people find another hotel or rent another unit in the hotel itself. Every attempt to sort it out reasonably was met with a loud, aggressive “no.” The reception was hostile and arrogant from the start. The staff member was extremely rude and treated us with shocking contempt, cursing at us several times. He accused us of being “scammers” and trying to deceive him. Then, acting in bad faith, he accessed our Booking.com reservation and cancelled it himself, claiming we had asked for the cancellation. The hotel kept our money and refused to help, leaving us on the street with two small babies. He also threatened to call the police if we didn’t leave reception. We called them ourselves. When the police arrived, the employee simply hid and didn’t come out to explain anything. I consider this place a den of thieves. They showed no respect for customers or understanding of hospitality, and I believe they acted criminally. I wouldn’t recommend anyone go near this establishment. I’m furious. Do not stay at the HOTEL MAX KAISER INNSBRUCK. It’s a trap!

The rooms are large and beautiful, right in the heart of the city, and the value for money is very good. Cleanliness let the place down, though. It wasn’t the best, but they apologized. Guests should also help out by not leaving everything dirty at checkout. I’d still recommend it 👍

What bothered me most was how the reception handled my request about my child. I offered to pay any extra charges, but they didn't acknowledge the request. The apartment I booked is very spacious and could easily fit more than one child, so this felt especially surprising. I found the treatment disrespectful, exploitative, unprofessional, and inconsiderate.

The second bedroom had snot and boogers on the wall beside the bed. We also had trouble getting bedding for the sofa bed after adding another person to the reservation. They charged us for the extra guest, which was fine since there was a sofa bed, but the sheets never arrived despite four requests to the front desk and repeated promises. The next morning they agreed to refund the extra-person charge, saying the manager had to handle it when he came in. We never got a call, email, message, or refund. After we posted on booking.com, they disputed our review and falsely said they'd tried to contact us. Don't trust this place.

The location, right by the house with the golden roof in central Innsbruck, is easily the apartment's strongest point. Communication with the host and collecting the keys went smoothly for us, despite the many reviews I'd read. The top-floor apartment gets hot, and the installed A/C didn't help much. Its second bedroom was tiny and windowless, so it was uncomfortable and shouldn't really be advertised as a second bedroom. The shower was okay, though we noticed mold and dirty spots.
