Hotel Sonnenhof - bed & breakfast & appartements

The staff were always welcoming and had ideas for things to do. We got around Innsbruck by public transit, which was easy, reliable, on time, and never too crowded. The grocery store is in the heart of town, and we found the restaurants there very pleasant. Breakfast at the hotel was lovely, with plenty of options and a nice presentation. We rented the one-bedroom apartment and had a wonderful stay. The balcony views were amazing, the unit was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. The bed was comfortable, with extra bedding available if needed. The water was hot, and the bathroom was well laid out. We’d absolutely stay again.

The setting at Hotel Sonnenhof is wonderfully peaceful, with fresh air, sweeping fields, and mountains all around. Even though it’s in the countryside, bus and tram connections are easy to reach on foot. They come every 5-10 minutes, and there’s literally a route from downtown to the mountains and onward to all sorts of destinations at affordable prices. Our room was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully arranged. The cosy bedding and attention to cleanliness made it feel like home. Breakfast was another highlight, fresh, plentiful, nicely presented, and served in a calm, inviting room with a good range of choices. We’d highly recommend staying here if you want a relaxing visit. The comfort and hospitality were outstanding, and we look forward to returning.

The owner was friendly and helpful with information, and our large room had a desk and couch as well as the bed. Breakfast offered a good variety, though it was much like what we’d had elsewhere so far. This is a winter resort area, and we came in May, so it may be busier in winter. There’s a grocery store nearby, but restaurants are limited around here, especially in the off season. You may want to have dinner in town before coming back. We liked being away from the city bustle, with lovely views in every direction, a walking path just off the property, and beautiful scenery along the way.

We were so taken with Igls and Innsbruck that we cancelled our plans for Salzburg and stayed longer. Hotel Sonnenhof in Igls was a real highlight of our Christmas trip. We came to Innsbruck from Amsterdam, then took a taxi from the station that cost about 25 euros and took around 10 minutes. We’d told Thomas we would arrive early, and he had the room ready so we could check in and relax. His hospitality stood out throughout the visit. He gave us a welcome card, explained shop opening times, which was especially useful at Christmas, and shared bus information and streets to explore. On our last day, we had an early train, and he kindly arranged a taxi to the station. Our studio panorama room had a stunning view and plenty of space for our family of three. It was very clean, with a handy kitchen unit and coffee maker, and the balcony looked out over Igls and the snow-covered mountains. Thomas had our breakfast table ready each morning, and the hearty spread was satisfying. He also made a point of asking guests about their plans and how the day had gone, a rare kind of personal care. Getting around was easy. Bus number J runs often, about every 15 minutes. Igls is a picturesque town among majestic mountains, and Hotel Sonnenhof feels like a hidden treasure. We’d be very happy to return.
