IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn

Update: the hotel refunded the charge, so I’m changing the rating to 5. This was meant to be a five-star review. The hotel is beautiful and clean, with stylish design and quality facilities. Our spacious suite had a nice balcony and thoughtful details. The spa areas were excellent, the several on-site restaurants had great food and atmosphere, and most staff were professional and warm. Then checkout spoiled it. The woman who checked us in, who spoke very limited English, also handled checkout and surprised us with a €120 early check-in fee. She hadn’t mentioned it when we arrived. In a five-star hotel, a check-in just two hours early is usually free or clearly discussed in advance. If we’d known, we would’ve waited and had lunch, which we ended up doing anyway. I’d filmed lovely aerial footage with my drone during the stay, with staff approval, and planned to give it to the hotel. After that ending, I only felt like sharing my frustration. A wonderful stay turned sour in the last five minutes. That’s not how a luxury experience should finish.

The mountain view was lovely and the spa was average, but I wouldn’t return because of the hygiene and service. In our suite, there were dead mosquitoes in every corner. We couldn’t change rooms, so I asked staff to clean them up. Nobody apologized or offered anything to make a better impression. If room cleanliness matters a lot to you, don’t choose this place.

The staff were helpful and nice, and the hotel is cosy with great facilities and a stunning view. It’s well located for getting around. I highly recommend it.

Looking forward to coming back. Everything ran with precise timing, from Reception through to the Golf team, and the place overlooks a beautiful valley and mountains. The team was motivated, informative, and dedicated. Alan and Sabine in the Golf shop were especially helpful and caring, and Philip, the Restaurant supervisor and Food and beverage manager, seemed to be everywhere and clearly cared about his work. A magical, beautiful hotel experience, 10 out of 10. Thanks to the whole team.
