Alpenhotel Erika

The room was nice, though a little small, and it was a pleasant surprise to have it cleaned and the beds made every day. Breakfast was good and set me up for snowboarding. The hotel sits in a lovely spot on the Ischgl hills, with easy access to town and the ski lifts.

Breakfast was fantastic, and the bathroom was amazing. The rooms are small, but really cozy. You can ski in and out here, which only a few places in Ischgl offer. It's also one of the more reasonably priced hotels in town. Highly recommended!

The hosts were very unfriendly. We weren't allowed to have breakfast in our snowboard boots, and after checkout they wouldn't let us leave our car at the hotel.

There were seven of us staying at Alpenhotel Erika in Ischgl, arriving on Sat 25 Feb. We found the heated towel rack wasn't working, and it still hadn't been fixed by the time we left the next morning. I told the owner, Patritzia, before we went skiing. She reluctantly said she'd look into it, but when we returned at 17h30, it still didn't work. I reported it again while she was having drinks with friends at the bar. She seemed irritated and called her husband Max, who speaks very little English. He came up to our room, walked in without knocking while my wife was getting dressed in the bathroom, muttered something in German, switched on a second boiler unit, then left. Back at reception, he said we were stupid because we hadn't turned it on ourselves. That led to a nasty argument, and they told us to check out if we weren't happy. The next morning the rack still wasn't working. At breakfast, Max said Patritzia was ready to check us out. I explained to her that we couldn't leave because there was no other accommodation available. The rest of the stay was a nightmare, with bad attitudes and little ability to speak or understand English. We've skied in Austria for 15 years, and this was by far the worst hotel we've stayed in. They seem to cater only to German and Austrian guests, and can't converse in English. We will never go back!
