Hotel Eldorado

We spent seven nights at Hotel Eldorado Ischgl in February with half board, but the experience was a letdown in several ways. The first three nights, the food arrived cold, and one evening we waited 2.5 hours while the waiters sought approval from the manager, Silvia, before serving us. It felt absurd and unprofessional. Some staff later became friendlier, and a few waiters were professional, but others told us every table was reserved even though seats were open during dinner hours. The room had no heat when we arrived. We reported it straight away, but the management, who are also the owners, responded slowly. After several complaints they brought a weak heater that didn't fix the problem. Rather than offering a proper solution, they suggested we leave if we weren't satisfied. That was unacceptable for a hotel in this category. There were also problems with the bill. Tyrolean ravioli, which we understood to be included in the half-board menu, came with an unexpected €14 charge. We were billed for a 0.2L glass of wine instead of the 0.1L we ordered, though that was corrected after we complained. After a few days, communication improved, helped by cultural familiarity. Ischgl is a fantastic destination, but Hotel Eldorado fell short on comfort and how guests were treated. The room problems, confusing charges, and uneven service affected our stay. Thanks to the waiters who were professional, but next time we'll choose another hotel.

Most of the food was good, but the truffle pasta was awful. When we told the waiter we didn't like it, he got furious. They also charged €4.50 for a bottle of tap water, so our table of 11 paid €35 for tap water. Very disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The food was phenomenal. I'd go for the steak or one of the pastas.
