Residenza Solaris

Five stars! I was wary after seeing some negative one-star reviews on G-maps, but local friends recommended this guest house, so I trusted them. I'm really glad I did. The value for money is incredible. I couldn't find anywhere else in Ischgl with such a cosy, comfortable stay at such a good price. The rates are well below the resort average, which had made me wonder if something was wrong, but it wasn't. It's warm and very clean, with everything needed for a great ski holiday: a ski room, sauna, steam room, and ice shower. There's a bus stop nearby, and buses to Ischgl come about every 20 minutes. We were worried about arriving without a car, but getting around by bus turned out to be very convenient. Nights were quiet and we slept well. The hotel manager is very nice and helpful, and speaks several languages. Our booking included discounted ski passes, and the WiFi works well. Reviews saying there's no internet are false or out of date. There's no breakfast, but you can order fresh bread or croissants to your door in the morning. For breakfast, there's also another hotel across the street at €17 per person, or you can take the bus into town for a 5-7 minute ride and find good options there. Be careful to sort your rubbish or you could be fined. Local friends told me about it, so I was prepared. In Austria you have to sort it yourself, but it's not difficult: anything that rots goes in the Bio bin, everything else in Rest. My sleep and skiing were both great, and the place is a cosy retreat after an active day at Ischgl. It's well suited to a family or group stay. I wouldn't recommend it for a solo visit. For Ischgl, I'd give it 5/5 for the outstanding price and value compared with the rest of the resort. One request for the staff: please put up a sign in the Sauna area explaining the no-swimsuits policy. When we asked, they told us swimsuits weren't allowed in the Sauna, which is normal and what we expected, but there's no notice posted. Other guests, especially from the Netherlands, wore swimsuits, and we both felt uncomfortable. That's an easy fix.
