The food made a big impression. At every mountain spot we visited, Hotel Sonne was immediately recognized for its exceptional cuisine. Breakfast was an abundant buffet each morning, and each evening we returned to the same table for a memorable five-course dinner. The bar cocktails are not to be missed. After skiing, we relaxed in the sauna while our kids went to the pool, and there's a peaceful quiet room for unwinding too. Sonja and Peter are gracious, attentive hosts who run this cozy, luxurious mountain hotel with genuine care. As one of the few Americans there that week, we felt especially welcome from the moment we arrived. The location gives easy access to two gondolas, and the exquisite decor mixes modern lighting with warm wood. The hotel is impeccably maintained. If you're there for New Year's, Sonja and Peter put on a festive evening with music, dancing, a champagne toast, and the best meal of the week. An Austrian friend told us Hotel Sonne was a must for an Alps ski trip, and I'm grateful every day that we followed the advice. I'd love to return!

We came for a race weekend and found exactly what we needed: a quiet, comfortable place to rest well before and after the event. The staff were friendly and helpful, and clearly cared about making everything smooth and stress-free. Every meal was fresh, delicious, and satisfying, just right for fueling up and recovering. Great for athletes or anyone wanting a relaxing stay. Highly recommended!

We came back for our second year, and the quality was consistent in everything. Peter and Sonja have created a beautiful place, and the staff manage it flawlessly. A special thanks to Svenja for her impeccable manners in the mornings, the lovely coffee she made us, and the chef's thoughtful, special breakfast. It was the best omelette I've had so far. We also ate at the Sunalm à la carte restaurant, and everything was perfect: tomato mozzarella, mixed salad, Wiener Schnitzel, and a lovely Lucas wine from the Zangerl family vineyards, where they make their own wine. Sandra, Andrej, and the rest of the staff treated us wonderfully and very professionally. Many thanks to Peter for a lovely stay. We hope you'll come to beautiful Halkidiki so we can show you around!

The food was delicious, with plenty of choice, and everyone on staff was really friendly. Hotel Sonne is well placed in town, near the tunnel leading to the slopes. We had a great week there. The rooms and interior look beautiful, and the spa was clean and pleasant, with saunas and a steam bath. I only wish it stayed open later in the evening.

Dominika and Ivan were standout waiters, so upbeat and kind. We had a wonderful stay with our son, and it’s one we’ll remember for a long time. The staff were respectful and welcoming throughout, and made us feel at home. The decor is carefully put together, with high-quality furniture and accessories, while the rooms are beautiful. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the hotel’s location and history add to the experience. I’m sure it’s one of the best hotels in Ischgl. We’d love to return with the whole family. One small downside: the manageress shouldn’t reprimand staff in front of restaurant guests. They were doing everything perfectly, so she could take it easier and be less tense 😀
