Ferienchalet Katharina

We told the property managers about these problems, but unfortunately nothing was done. The hillside location makes the drive into Kaltenbach easy, though there seems to be just one busy road into the village, at least we couldn't find another way. For walking the dog, it’s asphalt only. The listing didn’t match what we found. There was no garage parking space. The downstairs bathroom is modern, but a curtain is all that separates it from the bedroom. Upstairs there’s a bathroom with a bidet and a separate toilet, which leaves no toilet for six adults. Both fridges were missing all the door shelves, so where are six people meant to keep their food and drinks? The basement TV wouldn’t switch off with the remote. Some patio furniture was broken, the bench cushions were stained, and the plastic chairs had no cushions. The sauna was nice, but very small. We won’t consider this house again.

The sauna and washing machine were great, and the house was otherwise superbly equipped. The mattresses were excellent too. But the fridge is extremely poor, only large enough for two to four people, which needs fixing at this price. Maybe there should be a second one in the basement. A few champagne glasses in the kitchen would be nice, and the bathroom bidet could be replaced with a toilet. One bathroom for two people and another for six is a bad layout.

The place was quiet, and the rooms were clean and generally well equipped. It worked fine for six adults and a small child. The renovation feels overdue, so that's why I'm giving it four stars.
