Getting around was easy, with a bus stop right outside the hotel and a Salzburg Land transport card included in our stay. It gave free public transport across the region, which was especially handy on days we didn’t ski. We could get to and from the slopes without a car, and enjoy a beer or two on the mountain without worrying about driving. The wellness area has a public section for outside visitors and a private area for hotel guests, with a stunning infinity pool. The saunas are divided into textile and naked zones. Rooms were great and spotless on arrival, and housekeeping kept them that way every day. Staff were friendly, too. Breakfast was varied and good. Dinner combined a generous Swedish buffet with a main course chosen à la carte, a nice mix of choice and a sit-down meal. The only odd point was the drinks policy: drinks weren’t included, which is understandable, but tap water cost €5-6. A fantastic base for a Kaprun ski holiday, with beautiful rooms, excellent wellness facilities, and convenient transport. We’d happily return.

The relaxed vibe was just what I hoped for, and the food and rooms were great. My room was comfortable and very clean. I had a perfect stay, from the warm welcome at reception to check-out. The Dutch lady at reception really made it for me with her friendly welcome and good energy. A great choice if you love golf, wintersports, and wellness.

After seeing Tauern Spa’s reply to my comment, I want to add that nobody ever reviewed the situation thoroughly or clarified it directly with me. I still don’t recommend this place. We visited Tauern Spa with four kids, two adults, and a friend. They offer family tickets, but it didn’t feel set up for a family with three kids. We bought a family ticket for 2+3, covering the children’s pools and the adults’ pools and sauna. We got five wristbands to enter and exit the pools, two for adults and three for kids, four red and one orange. We were told which was which, but once we took all the kids into the changing room, nobody could tell us which red band belonged to an adult. I tried asking staff inside and couldn’t get an answer. Only one adult wristband opened the family changing room, a 1x1m space with one bench and four hangers for two adults and three kids. We also bought an evening ticket for our fourth child, since we came after skiing. His wristband gave him access to neither a changing room nor a clothes box. He had to change in our family room, which was awful with six people in that tiny space. Our friend had an adult evening ticket and received an orange wristband that opened the family changing room. My husband and I decided to use the sauna, leaving the kids with our friend for 15 minutes. Since we didn’t know which red band was the adult one, we took our friend’s orange wristband because it was clearly for an adult. At the exit, we were told to pay another €20 because an adult evening ticket doesn’t include the sauna. We tried to explain what happened. The cashier saw in the computer that two adult bands had used the sauna at the same time. When I asked which red band was for an adult, she said she obviously couldn’t know, since it was red like the other three. Asked how customers were supposed to tell, she said we’d been given the information when buying tickets and should have remembered it. She also said she was tired of talking to me and we should pay and leave. The cashier was rude and unempathic. This was our second visit. Last year they also didn’t have enough clothes boxes and gave us just one small box for six people. This place discriminates against families with more than three kids. They seem to want to make money, but the services offered aren’t premium.

The restaurant was a real bright spot. I usually find water park food disappointing, but the meal here was genuinely good. We booked online, which turned out to be smart: on a day with bad weather the place was full, and we saw people turned away at the entrance. The salt pool was enjoyable, though most pools felt plain and there wasn’t as much variety or entertainment as I expected for the price. The complex also looks dated and could use some care. Renovation is planned for March 2026, which seems needed. I’d go with a reservation for the food, but if you’re after a state-of-the-art spa, you may want to wait until after the renovation.

After skiing, the pool and sauna were a lovely way to unwind, and the buffet breakfast and dinner made meals easy. We appreciated the textile sauna, which is hard to find in Austria, since we avoided the nude areas. It would have been nice to have more towels and a hot tub where hotel guests could relax without going nude. Most of the meat was pork, so I wished there were more beef choices. The wait staff were pleasant and polite, though housekeeping could have done a better job. We enjoyed our stay and found it a good family option in a great location.
