Horst gave me a warm, friendly welcome when I arrived. The room was basic but did the job, with a comfortable bed, storage, and a hot shower. Breakfast was a simple but tasty continental one, and it was included. If you want no-frills accommodation, this is a great base for skiing on the glacier. It suited what I needed perfectly, and I plan to stay again. Thanks for a pleasant visit.

I'm leaving this warning for future guests. We live in Tallinn/Estonia and know cold weather, but our stay at Pension Berghail was unbearable. The room was freezing because the radiators weren't working. We slept in two layers of ski thermals and hats. When we complained, Mr. Englacher said the heaters switch off automatically at 24°C. That made no sense to us, since the room felt practically as cold as outside. We also found the owner's response disrespectful. Mr. Englacher speaks very limited English. We tried explaining with Google Translate set to German, and he literally laughed at us. When we asked for basic amenities or heat, he just said, "This is not a 5-star hotel." Being left cold and treated rudely has nothing to do with the star rating, it's basic human decency. The bed was too short for me at 1.84m, with my ankles hanging over the edge. There were also strange restrictions on drinking coffee freely at breakfast. It's 2026 and this hotel still couldn't provide basic heating or respect. We checked out on the morning of day two and moved to another hotel. Don't ruin your ski holiday here.

I booked at the last minute and had odd check-in and check-out times, but the host was really accommodating. It was lovely chatting with him in the morning, and his coffee was great too. If I head back up the Kitzsteinhorn, I'd definitely return!

Horest was a lovely owner, very helpful, and spoke perfect English. The room was big, warm, light, and airy, with everything you need. It was quiet but close to everything, only five minutes from the centre of Kaprun. The ski bus is 100m away, and you can walk to the main gondola, or at least walk back via a bar. I'd stay again without hesitation.

We stayed from April 29th to May 3rd. The place is right in the center of Kaprun, so it's close in every direction. Rooms were clean and nice. Breakfast was included, though it could have had a little more variety. The host was a helpful, nice guy, and we recommend staying here. Greetings from Poland.
