The room was small but cozy, clean, and had the older furniture style I like. The bathroom was okay, though it could've been cleaner, and the host was friendly. He was a little unclear about prices and room availability, and it was disappointing that the sauna was only available on request between 9 and 20. The breakfast is what really brought the stay down for us. There were four of us, but there wasn't nearly enough food unless you wanted muesli or corn flakes. They were pretty stingy with the meat and cheese, although the meat itself was good. The milk bottle was only filled about a quarter of the way each time, barely enough for one person, so we had to ask for more three times. And the bacon was black, way past done, not the crispy kind I actually like. When I asked the host about it, he said that's how they eat it in Austria. I tried a bite, and all I could taste was charcoal. He was friendly about it, but those were pretty bad excuses for burnt bacon. A nice, cozy room and a pleasant host, but breakfast was a huge disappointment.

The owner's reaction to our late checkout was awful. Checkout was at 10:00, and after the cleaning lady told us we'd overstayed, we said we'd hurry and offered to pay for the extra hour. Ten minutes later the owner arrived furious, something I'd never experienced before. We apologized and tried to reason with him, but he charged us €40 for the hour and threatened to call the police when we said that seemed like a lot. That's no way to treat guests. The other staff were actually nice. Breakfast wasn't good, and scrambled eggs cost an extra €4.50. The rooms weren't especially large, though they had a balcony, and I never got properly hot water in the shower. I wouldn't stay here again.

We were well looked after by Christian and the rest of the team at the Hollaus. We had a lovely stay, though we mostly just slept there and spent the days skiing.

We enjoyed the tasty breakfasts and the lovely mountain views. The owners were really nice and ready to help, too. Such a cozy, pleasant place for a quiet stay in the Austria Alps. I'd recommend it!
