That little private terrace had a lovely mountain view, which was the best part of the room. The room itself was dated, though I could call that authentic. The bathroom was tiny and not fully clean, with fungus around the shower. I also can't remember the last hotel shower I used without thermostatic tabs. The free WiFi was unreliable about half the time, so we'd have to ask reception to restart the whole system. Even when it worked, it was extremely slow. For much of the day the hotel also smelled of fried onions or other food. A decent kitchen hood would help. We had the all-in package. Breakfast was okay, but exactly the same every day. Dinner was low standard, like basic home cooking if you're not much of a cook, and nowhere near restaurant or proper hotel quality. I'd say this place suits older German-speaking guests with a retirement-home mentality. Otherwise, look elsewhere in this beautiful region.

The rooms were tidy and well cleaned, which is why I'm giving two stars. Breakfast was just okay, and I've had much better at similar places. The hosts only seem friendly when things fit their strict schedule. There was no welcome when we arrived, and they made an issue of every little thing. Early check-in wasn't possible, and neither was late check-in. There's a long list of complaints beyond that. If there's another comparable option nearby, I'd pick it.

Rauris and the surrounding scenery are beautiful, and the price was great. The clean room was another plus, though the toilet lid kept falling onto our backs and the pillows were old and worn, unlike the ones in the photo. When I asked the daughter for another pillow, she said there weren't any. I asked the room cleaner the next day, after seeing they had vacancies following a full booking the day before, and she brought an extra one later. We met a lovely family from Holland who were just as surprised as we were by how unwilling the owners were to bend their rules. The daughter often said no to requests. We arrived from far away and asked them to save a little cold food for dinner, which ended at 7:30pm, but that was out of the question. We also needed to leave early for a flight and asked for coffee, with no luck. They seemed to have a justification for everything. The place is run by the daughter and her parents. The father seemed cheerful, but the daughter and mother acted as though they'd rather be anywhere else. Their smiles felt pasted on, and after we sat at the bar we heard them complain about money for much of the evening, as if they felt they weren't charging enough. We had full pension, with all meals included. The food ranged from poor to average, and got repetitive after a few days. Yesterday's boiled potatoes became today's potato salad; the mushroom soup and semmelknodel came back the next day as semmelknodel with mushroom sauce. At lunch we could make sandwiches, but signs made clear that each of our family of four could have only one. They advertise a sauna, but it was open only Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5pm to 7pm. Dinner was served from 6pm to 7:30pm, so those hours weren't useful for people out hiking or sightseeing until near dinner. Asking them to open it at another time seemed unlikely to work. Free WiFi was offered too, but reception was lousy. When we left, they charged an extra 10 euro because my little boy had wet the bed. My wife stripped the bed, asked for fresh sheets, and made it up herself. I know accidents with little kids happen, and it's not poison, but the daughter said the sheet needed a separate wash with special detergent. We use normal detergent. I'd never had a hotel make getting another set of sheets an issue. If they need to charge more, they should do that instead of advertising things they don't want to provide and charging extra for every little thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the daughter comments here to justify my complaints, since she had a justification ready throughout our stay. If you go, know what to expect. The Austrian Alps are so beautiful that we may return to Rauris, but we'd pay a bit more and stay somewhere with a better atmosphere and more accommodating service.

The breakfast was great, and both our room and bathroom were clean. Our host made us feel very welcome at Pension Wörgötter. We had a lovely stay and hope to come back soon!

We really enjoyed our stay here, which is why it gets five stars from me. It's a warm, friendly family-run hotel, within walking distance of the town centre and ski lifts. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and I'd gladly recommend it.
