Pension Rainhof

We stayed in Apartment Oelberg, a few hundred meters from Pension Rainhof. It was roomy, perfectly clean, and had all the amenities you’d want in an apartment. Tamara was a fantastic host, and we had a great time there. Downtown was a short walk away, or we could take the ski bus. I’d definitely recommend it.

The ski bus was about 100 meters away and went straight to the ski lift in town, so the location worked perfectly for us. Our room was lovely, with a great shower, comfortable beds, and cozy linens. Housekeeping left it immaculate each day, and breakfast had a very nice spread. We had a lovely week at Pension Rainhof. Thanks so much to Tamara and her staff for taking such good care of us, and for the warm welcome from the start.

Tamara looked after us so well, helping arrange car passes and book restaurants with a smile. She really made us feel at home, and we’d happily return to Kitzbühel. Our room was cleaned and tidied every day. Breakfast had a good mix of sweet and savory choices, and the homemade raspberry jam was my favorite. The location is great too, just a few meters from the H1 Hornbahn ski lift. The train station also seems close, since the railway passes near the property.

We had a great trip, and I’d absolutely come back. Tamara is a pro at hosting and was ready to help with anything. I brought 30 people from our ski club, many on their first trip to Europe and unsure what to expect. She helped us before arrival with transport suggestions, local restaurants, ski hire information, and even arranged a group dinner with The Phoenix. We got there well before check-in. Tamara met us at the bus and let us leave our bags in the ski locker room at the back, where there’s a heated boot tray, so we could walk around and get something to eat. At a quick evening presentation, my father, who was born and raised in Salzburg, asked if she knew somewhere with a Zither player. She didn’t know, but said she’d look into it. By breakfast, she’d arranged Tuesday dinner in a semi-private room at Eggerwirt, with a special menu and an older gentleman playing the Zither. She also got us a dinner reservation after asking what we felt like eating and making a couple of quick calls. In busy season, you’ll definitely want to reserve. And when she learned we had a 5 AM Saturday departure, she came in at 4 AM, instead of her usual 6 AM, to give us breakfast to go. A European pension isn’t the Hilton, so it suits adults looking for a comfortable place to sleep while they enjoy the area. The staff are super friendly and do what they can to help. The pension is celebrating its 500th year in 2026. There’s a wide range of room setups, with bedding guaranteed. Every room has its own fully equipped bathroom, including a hair dryer, so leave your US 110v unit at home. The building is across the tracks from the rail line, and trains pass often. I barely noticed the sound, since they’re electric and you tune them out. It was handy being able to walk 600m to the station and catch a train to Innsbruck or Salzburg. The Hornbahn gondola is a short walk up the hill behind the pension, and the bus to Hahnenkamm gondola station stops a few steps across the tracks, running almost every 10 minutes at peak times. The historic center is an easy walk for shops and restaurants, while the pension is far enough away to be quiet in the evening.
