Hotel Nockalm

The reception team were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant staff were kind and attentive. Dinner was tasty, though there wasn’t much of it. Breakfast was just so-so, and nothing was replenished, so you had to go early for the better things like fruit or bakery items. Lunch needed to be arranged in advance. We never ate lunch there because we didn’t know whether we’d be at the hotel or out, but the receptionist managed to get a pizza for our boys, which we appreciated. The hotel itself has everything you need, even though it’s in the middle of nowhere. The room was great, but the bed was a little noisy and we could clearly hear doors slamming in other rooms. The pool was nice. The kids club didn’t feel very comfortable for our one-year-old. He moved from one thing to another, and we offered to clean up after him, but the older lady wasn’t very friendly with him. She was nice to the girls drawing and painting, who were over five. I understand older kids may communicate better and behave more calmly, but why call it a kids club? We felt uncomfortable after our first visit, gave it another chance, and got the same vibe with different staff. Our child didn’t want to stay long either. Overall it was good, but there was too much driving from place to place.

After our stay, I can see why this is such a gem for families. Kinder- und Familienhotel Nockalm had everything we needed for a memorable holiday, and we can’t wait to return. We were heading home from Vienna and spent a couple of days here. It was one of our best decisions, and our first family hotel experience couldn’t have been better. We chose the all-inclusive full board package, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it was worth every penny. The hotel is set up for a family break, whether you want the ski slopes or indoor activities for the kids. Miss Elizabeth and her child care team were amazing, and our kids loved the child care room. The indoor playground was a paradise, with video games, air hockey, billiards, darts, and more. There’s plenty for grown-ups too. After skiing, the indoor pool, sauna, and steam room were bliss, and massages are available as well. Outside, the huge playground has an obstacle course and treehouse, plus a petting zoo with bunny rabbits and other animals the kids loved. Toboggans are free, and the hotel offers transport to additional ski slopes. Our room was comfortable for our family of six, with room for everyone, a lovely balcony overlooking the mountains, and even a jetted hot tub. The smart TVs with Netflix were handy for keeping the kids entertained in the evenings. On arrival, the staff gave us a tour so we could make the most of the amenities. They speak English, German, and probably other languages too, which made communication easy. Highly, highly recommend!

The children had lots to do beyond the huge playroom they enjoyed after ski school. There’s a mini zoo with several animals, an outdoor playground with a zip line and slide, and several spots next to the hotel for sledding until nightfall. The hotel has different kinds of sleds you can borrow for free, and a tubing track is only a two-minute drive away, though we didn’t get to try it. There’s also a mini ski slope beside the hotel for beginners. Katchberg ski resort is a short 20-minute drive for more experienced skiers. Both the large and small pools were immaculately clean, and the food and snacks had enough variety to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. The ski storage room has boot warmers, which was handy. Our rooms were clean, warm, and comfortable after a busy day, though the furniture might be a bit dated. The staff were always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The owner, Gita, was available whenever we had questions or concerns. We felt at home from the warm welcome, including gifts for the children, and can’t wait to return next year.

The room was big and comfortable for our large family, and the hotel has lots for kids, from playgrounds around the property to a playroom and a chill-out room for older children. We enjoyed the pool, and both breakfast and dinner were tasty. The kids are made very welcome here. Thanks so much!
