Kufsteinerhof

Everything's been renovated since we were here two years ago, and the rooms are beautifully designed, elegant and even more comfortable. We've always enjoyed staying at Kufsteinerhof hotel because it's clean and in a very convenient location. Thanks to the owner and the staff, who's always there to help with what you need. We could walk easily from the train station to the fortress, old town and park, so it was a great starting point for exploring Kufstein. They stored our luggage while we hiked. The bathroom was very clean and updated. There's no AC, but the windows open quite wide.

I tried to cancel because bad weather forced me to postpone my trip, but I couldn't reach them. They never sent me any confirmation email or message. When they finally contacted me, they said I couldn't cancel without a charge. I expected a normal cancellation fee, maybe even a night's cost, but this hotel charged me for all three nights. When I eventually got to Kufstein, I went to the hotel in person. After I explained what happened, they just asked, “Yes, and what do you need? What do you expect to do?” I asked for my money back, but they refused, arguing and threatening that it was my fault, even though I'd told them before the first night. I then asked if I could at least have my room for the nights they'd charged me for. Surprisingly, there was no room available. They charged me for a room they'd given to someone else, without telling me or providing an invoice, and said they had the right to do that. They also say parking is included, but there's no hotel parking. They sent me to park on a downtown street, where the parking meter is active at certain times, and I had to carry my luggage from wherever I found a spot, which might not be close. The restaurant was almost empty each time I walked past. Prices are high, considering there are better options near downtown in Kufstein. If you're thinking of staying here, think twice.

The central spot in Kufstein is the hotel's one good point. There's no air conditioning, and the city gets extremely loud at night on weekends. To get a halfway comfortable temperature, you have to sleep with the windows open, but either way you won't get much sleep. Expect to wake up exhausted and cranky. Just embrace the suck that is Kufsteinerhof. The breakfast buffet isn't much to write home about either.
