Apfelhof Flieder

I asked an employee where I could buy cherries, since there was no sign at the farm entrance showing which building the shop was in. The answer was so rude and arrogant that I left without going to the shop. I’ll buy cherries somewhere else, no problem.

The landlords could be more polite, friendly, and approachable. With a warmer welcome, perhaps the very meager breakfast and the high price for what you get would be easier to overlook. The house looks renovated and clean at first, and the rooms have solid wood furniture and luxurious showers. But the TV is just decoration because it doesn’t work at all, and the old Wi-Fi box in the hallway is just as useless. The duvets are down-filled, so they can’t be washed, which also raises ethical concerns. The polystyrene insulation on the outside walls makes the indoor air unpleasant for anyone with a sensitive stomach. At least keeping the windows shut stops the apple tree smell coming in. If you can’t find a room anywhere else, there’ll probably be one at the Lilac Inn. I wonder why.

The hosts are lovely and easy-going. Breakfast is served in a cozy room, with a fridge stocked with specialties from the apple orchard. The modern guest rooms have their own shower and toilet. It’s a beautiful setting, a little secluded, which also makes it peaceful.

A very family-run place at Apfelhof Flieder. The quiet is part of the charm, especially with wine and schnapps. The gently rolling hills are great for cycling or running.
