Appartement Haus Pichler

The apartment was spotless and cozy, and had everything we needed. It’s in a great spot for hiking and mountain biking. We’d happily come back, it was just perfect.

What stood out most was how responsive the hosts were. The family lives upstairs, so someone was always around, emails got quick replies, and when I mentioned the apartment felt chilly on the first evening, the very friendly hostess turned on the heating right away. Fresh towels appeared by the door on day three. Their Labrador was friendly with my dog, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The €4 dog fee seemed reasonable. The apartment felt lovingly put together and was spotless. It honestly seemed as if I might have been the first guest after the renovation. The kitchen had everything, from a can opener and Tupperware to dish soap, a sponge, two tea towels, a coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and more. There was plenty of toilet paper in the bathroom and a hairdryer, too. A few things could be better. Even with the bedroom door shut, I could hear running downstairs at 6:45 in the morning, so the house is a little noisy. Fly screens on the windows would be nice. The main road could bother some people in summer, though it didn’t bother me with the windows closed. I also found €6 for washing and drying very expensive, even though it’s good to have the option.

Miriam 🖐️ is a cool hostess 😉, and we found the price acceptable. The guesthouse seems to match its description, with good access to the cable car, enough shared facilities, and a lockable place for E-bikes.

Getting around the village does require a car. The place itself is quiet and clean, with excellent service and a fantastic location, about 25 minutes by car from Zell am See and 15 from Saalbach. There’s free cable car service to the village and free Saalbach TV access, plus a 10% discount on other entertainment in Zell am See and Kaprun. It’s close to a paved road, which is the main downside, though Austrians tend to go to bed early. There’s no air conditioning. The kitchen is fully equipped except for a pressure cooker. The price is very reasonable if you’re on a limited budget.
