Raffl's Hotel

The food and the staff have usually impressed us, and this restaurant has been a regular part of every holiday. We loved its rustic feel and the welcoming staff, and we liked the food enough to bring friends along more than once. But this visit was a real letdown. The menu had changed, and some of our old favorites were gone. The only completely vegan choice seemed to be French fries. I know vegan food isn’t the norm, but I’d expected at least one proper choice. There were vegetarian dishes, but because of my medical condition I can’t eat animal protein, so those weren’t suitable for me. I asked to have my meal made without eggs and explained the restriction. The portion was frustratingly small, but I accepted that. Then there was the salad. I hadn’t realized the dressing contained cream until I was halfway through, since most of it was at the bottom. I don’t know whether they forgot to tell me or assumed it would be fine, even though I’d been clear about what I couldn’t eat. I spent the next 20 minutes in the bathroom throwing up. My mother has the same illness and had trouble too. She ordered a larger salad and specifically asked for it without mozzarella. It arrived with mozzarella, and when the waitress spotted that, she took it back to the kitchen. About ten seconds later, the same salad came back without the cheese. My mother noticed the dressing and didn’t eat any of it. I don’t usually complain, but I shouldn’t have to spend the rest of the day suffering because someone wasn’t paying enough attention. I hope they get back on track because I’d like to return someday. For now, though, my answer is “No.”
