Eggerhof

If you want a quieter, more authentic alpine ski break, Eggerhof Mallnitz is a great option. It’s near the Ankogel ski area and within reach of the larger Mölltal Glacier, with well-maintained slopes and fewer crowds. After skiing, the cozy atmosphere, excellent spa, and hearty Austrian food make it easy to unwind and soothe sore muscles. Service is warm and personal, so you feel like a guest rather than just a tourist. It’s a good fit for a peaceful getaway with skiing and beautiful scenery, instead of a resort focused on nightlife.

We’d love to come back, and I’d recommend this accommodation and its service to families with children. The staff were helpful and professional, and did their best to meet every wish. It has a family atmosphere that feels very different from branded hotel chains. Food was excellent, with local specialties, vegetarian options, and a children’s menu to choose from. There’s an outdoor playground and an indoor playroom, plus a sauna and more. The Kärnten Card is included too, saving money on cable cars, swimming pools, museums, and other admissions.

Eggerhof makes a peaceful countryside escape, with comfortable accommodation, friendly service, and a cozy, rustic feel. It’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery, whether you stay overnight or just come for a meal. The traditional Carinthian dishes are hearty and delicious, made with fresh local ingredients. Hiking trails and nature walks are right nearby, making it a handy base for exploring the outdoors.

Our accommodation fell through on the day we were due to arrive in Mallnitz, but Hotel Eggerhof found us a wonderful place to stay. The receptionist was kind, understanding, and helped sort everything out. Breakfast was excellent, generous, and tasty.
