We keep returning to the fully equipped, self-catering apartment at "Haus St. Georg" in Maria Alm, and it's been part of our holiday plans for years. Mrs. W.-S. has been our host through WhatsApp, but she's still one of our favorites: welcoming, dependable, and so friendly. The village shops are a short walk away, and the apartment sits in a beautiful part of Austria, near Saalfelden and Zell am See. The Sound of Music is right there! The views and peaceful surroundings are lovely, and the hospitality in Maria Alm is hard to beat. We settle in and relax as soon as we arrive.

The apartment and its location were good, but four adults would be a poor fit. That fold-out sleeper chair just wasn't acceptable, and I ended up sleeping very badly.

My mother loved Maria Alm and the apartment so much that she got me interested in visiting. I'm glad I came too. The holiday apartment is beautifully furnished, cozy, and inviting, and I'd be very happy to return. Fantastic place, highly recommend it.

We canceled before the stay after reading the website's "Pets allowed" policy. It turns out that means one dog per apartment, and the owners seem to expect dogs to chew the curtains, carpet, and furniture :-) That doesn't feel very pet-friendly. We were planning to bring one large dog and two small, very well-behaved ones.
