The room was okay and the shower was hot, but there wasn't a single hook for our jackets or backpacks. Somehow there were 12 drawers in the furniture, though. Dinner was edible, just poor quality and very salty, and there were no vegetarian choices apart from spaetzle. It felt overpriced. We stayed during a three-day long-distance trek. The kitchen shut at 5 pm, and breakfast wasn't until 9, despite the room information sheet saying the kitchen was open until 6:30 and breakfast started at 7:30. It operates more like a restaurant than a mountain hut, and the staff didn't seem used to serving hikers. It was okay after a long day, but if you can make it to Salzstieghaus, that place is much better and nicer.

We felt like friends by the time we left, just as one of the signs on the wall says. The staff were wonderfully warm, and it was a fantastic place to stay overnight, with easy parking for exploring the mountains. Thanks so much.

A great starting point for hikes of any length around the Stubalpe and the nearby ranges. When it's quiet, you might find an outstanding Kaiserschmarrn that isn't on the menu.

The pancakes and garlic soup were particular favorites, and everything we ate was tasty. Altes Almhaus has lovely staff and an amazing view. We love coming here, especially if you're after somewhere a little different.
