Bauernhof Innerkienzerhof

The ski bus is available, though unfortunately too small for a group of 10. Matrei is just a 5-10 minute drive away. We had a wonderful stay at Innerkienzerhof and would love to return. The old farmhouse has a romantic feel, with wood paneling throughout and thoughtful decorations. It was very spacious and equipped for all 10 of us, so we could cook together in the evenings and hang out in the living room. The rooms have magnificent views over the whole valley, and we made good use of the basement sauna. The owners were incredibly friendly and always easy to reach when we had questions. They also run the farm and supplied us with their own milk, eggs, bacon, bread, and more. We felt very comfortable here. Thank you!

Olivia, our hostess, lives next door with her family and is so welcoming. We always feel at home and can ask her anything. In summer, the old farmhouse in the tiny village of Zedlach is a great starting point for hikes. The house is a dream, spacious, with five double rooms, each with its own bathroom. There's also a garden with a sandbox, swing, and Kneipp pool. In winter, it's a 10-minute drive to Matrei's valley station for skiing. Kids can visit the barn and see cows, rabbits, pigs, chickens, and cats. Fresh jam, milk, and eggs are for sale at the farm, and there's a restaurant in the village. Matrei, about 10 minutes away by car, has the shops. We've stayed at Innerkienzerhof in both summer and winter, and always love coming back.

After a hike, you can relax in the cellar sauna or infrared cabin. The fully equipped kitchen suits anyone who wants to cook, and the cozy living room gives a glimpse of what farm life used to be like. The Berger family lives just a stone's throw away, are incredibly helpful, and keep the tiled stove lit. You can buy basic breakfast items like milk, butter, jams, and cheese from their organic farm, and they're a real treat. Innerkienzerhof sits amid the breathtaking scenery of the Virgental valley in Zedlach. It's a beautiful old mountain farmhouse with the comforts of a modern guesthouse, including an en-suite shower and toilet in every bedroom. Many hikes start right from the house, and a short drive down into the Virgental valley opens up countless more.

It's a lovely old farmhouse, roomy and well equipped, with very friendly hosts. We felt at ease there and enjoyed some wonderful hikes nearby. A great place to relax or get out and explore nature and culture. We highly recommend it.
