Appartements Windschnur

We had a very enjoyable holiday. The apartment was clean, airy and nicely furnished, and the staff were really helpful. It’s right in the heart of Mayrhofen, close to the Penkenbahn gondola for the main ski area. The Ahornbahn cable car is a bit farther away and goes to the smaller, quieter Ahorn skiing area, where the White Lounge is made entirely of snow and ice. A few practical things could be better. The flat was too warm, so we had to open windows, which didn’t seem energy efficient. The radiators never appeared to warm up, so we had nowhere to dry wet clothes. Even in February, it was warm enough to rain at altitude. Cooking was possible, but the facilities were limited to a two-ring hob and a microwave. We still managed some pretty good meals. There can be noise at night from the kebab takeaway opposite and from Hauptstrasse. The dining chairs squeaked horribly whenever we moved them. It didn’t bother us much, but it must have driven the people in the flat below to distraction. A few felt pads would have solved it.
