Cafe zum Frsten

We waited 50-60 minutes for the spaghetti bolognese, but it never arrived, so we left before they could finish it. Earlier, we’d ordered pizza, only to be told 15 minutes later that they’d run out and couldn’t serve it.

The room was cold, and while we ate, staff were cleaning around us. There was no music, which all added to a poor impression. The schnitzels came in under five minutes, but they were dry and small, and seemed to have been prepared well before we ordered. Potatoes were okay, with nothing else alongside. We were charged €18 per person, despite the €15 price advertised outside. Melk is beautiful, but this restaurant wasn’t. It left me with a very poor impression of the town and Austrian food. The Czech neighbours should take note, they know how to cook good Austrian food!

We were four people in two rooms, and neither room was clean. There are lots of stairs, too. The location is great, right in the middle of the old town. Breakfast was limited, but great, unlike what the other reviews say.

Stay away. We waited an hour for service, which might have been forgivable, but the pizzas were disgusting. I’d guess they were supermarket pizzas just heated in the oven, and the fries were frozen, of course. I’ve never seen such a lack of respect for customers.
