GOLDEN STAR - Premium Apartments

We'd paid for the room almost seven days ahead, and the property already knew we were bringing our two-month-old baby. Even so, the room was very cold, with just two small heaters switched off. We turned them on and waited 40 minutes, but the temperature stayed below 21°C while we kept the baby wrapped in blankets. We called the person answering the property's phone to ask for a smaller room or some device to warm things up, since we needed to wash our very young baby. The answer was simply no, and to wait for the room to get warm. Really? Are we back in the 90s? When we said we had to leave because we couldn't spend the night in that temperature, we got no refund, not even a partial one. Horrible. Maybe adults might find this a fancy, vintage hotel, but they had our information and payment a week earlier and could have done more to welcome us. I don't recommend it for guests with children.

The host explained everything, and I appreciated the welcome. I arrived late at night but found the place easily. It's an old building, yet inside everything was modern and warm.

My partner thought it was just alright, but for me it was gold-star quality. The self check-in with no people contact was brilliant and very smart. We were in a lovely spot, looking out over the shopping street covered in snow, which was such a delight. The apartment and its interior were wonderful and felt nostalgic. Even now, I can picture every inch clearly. I'd gladly stay here again if we return to Melk.

Cafes and restaurants just below made meals and going out easy, and the location is quite central. The place was generally clean, and we appreciated having hot water. Finding it was difficult because the directions weren't clear. There was no soap in the shower, so we couldn't wash properly, and the full trash bin was unpleasant. In the morning, there was no coffee or tea. Although there was a coffee machine, it had no capsules, and there was no other way to make either drink. That was very inconvenient.
