The breakfast was generous, with fresh, appetizing choices laid out on the table, and Mrs. Lugar kept checking that her guests were all right. The rooms are reached by stairs, with no elevator to the second floor, so keep that in mind if your luggage is heavy or stairs are difficult. Still, the guesthouse is beautifully and tastefully updated from its farmhouse origins, with modern facilities and a peaceful country setting where you can sit and unwind. It’s about a 10-minute drive from Melk, and I’d happily return. Well worth the trip.
