Hotel Engel

I ate at the hotel restaurant, where both the food and service were excellent.

We’ve stayed at Hotel Engel for several years, and the welcoming Rogelböck family and attentive, friendly staff always make us feel at home. It’s a family atmosphere with excellent food, and we’d gladly recommend it for a relaxing ski holiday. We’ve also visited in summer for hiking. For skiing, the bus stops right outside and reaches the ski area in a few minutes, so we don’t need a car all week. There’s a ski storage room, a tasty afternoon snack, and a sauna and steam room downstairs for unwinding after the slopes. Breakfast has a generous, delicious spread, and in the evening you can pick from several dishes. Choosing can be hard because the food is so good.

We come back in every season, and the warmth of this family-run hotel is there from the moment you arrive. The spacious, lovely rooms, delicious food, and service are all wonderful. Its location is hard to beat: the cable car is a five to seven minute walk away, and the bus stops almost outside, connecting you across Vorarlberg. You can head out from the hotel on long bike rides in any direction, or enjoy the panoramic mountain views and beautiful nature trails. The Mellau/Damüls ski area has something for everyone.

The hotel is right in the village, with nice walks close by. We were there as a tour group and all felt comfortable. The welcome was warm, and the owner and staff even helped carry our luggage inside. Everything was organized well, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Breakfast was varied and appealing, with several kinds of bread, eggs and bacon, juices and fruit, and the buffet was kept stocked. Dinner was a tasty four-course meal, with four main dishes to choose from, plus soup, dessert and a good range of salads. I’ll certainly come back. Thanks for the excellent service.
