We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day here, and the hotel felt magical. On Christmas Eve there were complimentary drinks and nibbles, harp and accordion music, and carol singing, followed by a lovely six-course dinner. The family run feel was warm without being overbearing. Breakfast was superb, with freshly squeezed orange juice, and there were coffee, tea and cakes each afternoon from 2 to 5. Mieders is a pleasant little village with great public transport to Innsbruck and up the Stubai valley, even on Christmas Day. The ski hire shop by the hotel was very friendly, and it’s two stops to the Serlesbahnen gondola. Despite the relatively low elevation, the snow cover ran from the top station down to the valley. There’s a great red run top to bottom, plus three lovely blue runs through the trees at the top. We also had a fabulous snowy forest walk to the Ochsenhütte. A lovely break.

The hotel had a cozy feel, with wood decor, clean rooms and lovely shared spaces to relax, have coffee or eat. The food was a real letdown, especially dinner. Seven of the eight people in our group had stomach issues afterward, and the taste was poor, particularly the teriyaki noodles. They also charged us €2 for tap water at dinner, which felt unreasonable. There’s a small sauna, but no slippers for guests to wear inside. If the hotel can’t provide the service properly, it would be better not to offer it.

The rooms were decent, but the wellness setup was disappointing. The sauna only fits four people, so it wasn’t relaxing when busy, and no flip-flops were provided despite the hotel promoting its sauna facilities. We stayed two nights with my girlfriend. The hotel seemed cozy at first, but didn’t meet our expectations. Service was nearly absent. Reception was usually unattended, there was no phone in the room, and no clear way to contact staff. We ate at the restaurant one evening, and the food made both of us sick, ruining our first night. The location was less convenient than advertised too. It’s on the outskirts of Innsbruck, so we had to use toll roads at €4 per passage, an avoidable extra cost if staying on the other side of town. It wasn’t a relaxing or trouble-free holiday, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking comfort, good service and peace of mind. Thank you for replying. It’s interesting that your response focused on whether Austria’s highways belong to you instead of addressing the issues I raised. I never said you owned the motorway. I mentioned the tolls because access and location matter to travelers. This wasn’t about demands, just basic expectations: staff who are available, a reception that’s staffed, some way to reach someone from the room, and food that doesn’t make guests sick. Those aren’t luxury requests, they’re fundamentals of hospitality. If your house was never able to meet them, then my review may help future guests understand that.

There’s a bus stop just around the corner, plus a small supermarket close enough to crawl to. The hotel is well placed for hikes and trips to the Stubai Glacier, other lifts in the valley and Grawa waterfall, as well as Innsbruck, Bergisel Ski Jump, Ambras Castle, Swarovski Kristallwelten and Schwaz Silvermine. With enough nights, the free Stubai Super Card is a great deal: it covers a daily return ride on four nearby cable cars, a bus pass to Innsbruck and several discounts. Our comfort double was roomy, with a balcony looking over the garden and mountains, a Tiroler style canopy bed and plenty of storage. The toilet was separate from the bathroom. The shower was a regular booth, not walk-in, though I don’t know which rooms have the latter. Breakfast had a good hot and cold selection, including eggs, meat and cheese, vegetables, hummus, cakes and sweets, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, jams and honey. Coffee and tea came from machines. The Saturday BBQ sounded good, but we left that day and didn’t try it. All the food we did have was delicious. It’s a nice, cosy hotel with good cuisine and friendly, helpful staff. We were glad to find an elevator for our heavy suitcases. The step in front of reception is dangerous, although it was clearly marked. We saw a woman fall, but fortunately she wasn’t hurt. We also found the breakfast rolls too hard and chewy, though that’s personal preference. Neither issue would stop us coming back.

We really liked the bar area and the beautiful room, and there was free parking on site. Breakfast had an excellent range, and the area pass covered some local activities like a cable car and outdoor pool. The room got far too hot in weather over 30 degrees, with no air conditioning or fan available.
