Auenhütte

We love the cosy, warm feel here and keep coming back for our yearly ski trips. The bar and restaurant are amazing. Highly recommend it!

It has a great atmosphere and really nice staff. For a ski trip, you couldn't ask for a better starting point: you wake up right by the lift that takes you up to the plateau. The whole place feels very family-like.

The food was very good, and we enjoyed the menu and cooking during our half-board stay. The Ifen cable lift is just meters away, with superb hiking terrain beyond it. Hirshegg is very close, and the whole Kleinwalsertal area is fantastic. The rooms were superb, the team was amazing, and the place has a friendly feel that's great for relaxing. This was the best mountain stay I've ever had, a fantastic experience. I can't recommend it enough.

The ski storage room was spacious, and the heated shoe racks were great. The hotel sits right by several lifts, and its bar, with a large selection and gin and tonic as a specialty, makes it the place for apres ski. There are two convenient bus stops outside, with the Pendelbus running every 10 minutes to Fuchs Farm. That worked perfectly for us. Our kids were registered at Hirschegg Skischule, which takes two buses to reach, but the faster, easier route is to get off at Fuchs Farm and ski the blue slope straight to the school. Most days the bus from Fuchs Farm to Ifen was nearly empty. Ifen is the last stop, and there's little around there besides Auenhütte. Ski schools don't start at the hotel, though they may come to Ifen to ski. We stayed for a week of skiing on half board, so breakfast and dinner were included. The room was quaint and tastefully decorated, but the clothes hanging space was tiny. An open shelf and two hooks by the entrance weren't enough, and I think a small dresser and more wall hooks for coats would help. The bathroom door was so thin you could hear everything. Staff kindly fitted a safety rail after noticing our makeshift one on the bunk bed. We could pick the following evening's dinner each night, with two main dishes, one vegetarian option, and a kids' meal. The food varied: some nights were amazing, others bland. Once or twice the adults chose from the kids' menu because the main dishes didn't appeal. There's free parking for hotel guests, though it's uncovered. We enjoyed our stay at Auenhütte.
