Iris Porsche Hotel & Restaurant

Our room was spacious and beautifully furnished, with both a bathtub and a steam shower, a lovely touch on arrival. Iris is a stylish boutique hotel, but the team seemed seriously understaffed. We were excited to try the restaurant with its Michelin recommendation. That changed quickly at dinner. The waiter on duty, who we suspect was also the chef, was plainly rude. He said the terrace was fully booked and wouldn't serve us inside either, even though the indoor restaurant was completely empty. We were staying at the hotel, but that didn't change his answer. In a small town like Mondsee, we had naively assumed dinner would be part of the experience. Lesson learned. Breakfast the next morning was a real letdown. At €25 per person, the buffet was the most minimal we've ever seen: two cheeses, two kinds of ham, a little oats and some bread. There was no fruit, vegetables to choose from, salmon, or sweet pastries. They did make scrambled eggs fresh, but the portion was so small it felt more like an appetizer than a proper breakfast. With a Michelin-recommended restaurant on site, we had high hopes, and Iris fell short of even our lowest expectations. To be fair, after the waiter noticed how disappointed we were, he charged breakfast for two instead of four. At least there was some attempt to make up for it.

The staff deserve awards for being so friendly, and the location is perfect. This is a very elegant hotel, with noble rooms and amazing steam showers. Our room was gigantic, and the prices felt fair. It also works for travel with small children, apart from the Michelin-level restaurant.

Booking this hotel was the best choice I could have made. The room was super big, with high-quality design and very good taste. Five-star hotel, five-star service, and a really nice experience that I'll definitely repeat. Staying here and trying the Michelin star chef's food is a must. Keep up the amazing service for tourists on vacation.

The hotel is right in the center of town, and the rooms are excellent. Staff are welcoming and friendly. You can park for free at Mondsee Parking, about a 3- to 5-minute walk away.
