Hotel Seppl

We loved our four-night stay at Hotel Seppl in the mountain village of Mutters, just above Innsbruck. We were upgraded to a king bedroom suite with a balcony facing the mountains, and the view was spectacular. There was lots of closet space for bulky coats, shelves for folded clothes, a comfortable bed with fluffy pillows and duvets, a fold-out couch, coffee table, desk, and a bathtub with a mountain view. The spa was serene, with an indoor heated pool, steam rooms, sauna, showers, an infrared booth, and a relaxation room with couches. Hot tea and fruit and nut snacks were available. The outdoor pool is open in summer. There are no massages. A boot-drying room for ski boots and gear was handy, too. The restaurant serves freshly made Austrian food, with a small but adequate menu that changes nightly. Breakfast had sliced meats and sausages, cheese, yogurt with fruit and nuts, different breads, fresh jam, eggs, bacon, coffee, and more. Go early, since they don’t replenish it. The bus stop is a five-minute walk away, with a ski bus to the lifts, and the tram goes into Innsbruck or up the mountain to the cute town of Fulpmes. Both are free, just ask reception for the Welcome card when you arrive. There aren’t many restaurants in Mutters, though there’s a pizza place and a small cafe and bakery. Staff were friendly and spoke broken English, so don’t be upset if there’s a miscommunication. I do think they could be better informed about tram and bus times, which can be hard to navigate if you don’t know the area. The hotel is lovely and we’d definitely return.

The room was spacious and clean, the pool was really good, and the staff were very friendly and polite. We enjoyed the stay overall. Two things could be better: the chef could take some cooking courses, and the bedding should be cotton instead of synthetic.

It was our third visit to Innsbruck, but our first time staying at Seppl hotel. We’ll come back here again. The salmon special was delicious 😋, the service was very good, and the hotel has a pool, an outdoor resting area, and three kinds of saunas. Maybe the best value for the price in the area. Well done 👏

We came to ride bike park Innsbruck, and the hotel worked well for that. It’s not close to town and there aren’t many other places to eat nearby, so keep that in mind. I don’t speak excellent German, and checking in and finding my way around wasn’t the easiest. Better guidance on the tram and bus times would help, and some information about renting e-bikes would be useful. The hills in mutters are no joke 🏔️ We paid a bit more than I think is typical, but I’d happily do it again. Our road-facing room had a south-facing deck, so at 72* and sunny it was perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the spa. The small indoor pool is heated; the bigger outdoor one sits in a wonderful garden and is ice cold 🧊. The wet and dry saunas were in good shape and weren’t busy. Breakfast was delicious each day, well stocked, and came with tasty cappuccinos.
