Sunneschlössli Lodge

We came to relax, hike, and unwind from busy working lives, and Sunneschloessli gave us that, with more to discover than we’d expected. It felt like being at home, only cosier and with plenty of style. After hiking in the mountains, we welcomed the relief of the garden’s natural pool. There’s also an indoor steam room and whirlpool if you’d rather warm up and relax. We played croquet in the afternoon sun, then spent a cool evening in the glass-roofed cigar lounge. Daniela and Frank greeted us warmly when we arrived and offered freshly mixed cocktails, a lovely end to our long journey. We stayed in the Biedermeier Suite, whose balcony looks out over the mountains. Its vintage furniture and decorative pieces were tastefully chosen, making the room feel cosy and well put together. There are surprises throughout the spacious lodge: an entrance hall watched over by a life-size antique metal armour, a rustic breakfast room overlooking the garden pool, a spa area, and the Orient Express salon with its relaxed, mysterious oriental feel. Each room has carefully selected furniture and art. The place brings together rest, art, and history, with collections that invite you to discover the world.

Daniela made our short vacation even better with the way she looked after us. We’ve never had such a warm welcome or felt so valued as guests. The accommodation, every bit of it, felt like paradise. There’s amazing attention to detail inside and out. I highly recommend this house. If we’re ever back in the area, this is the only place we’d choose. No surprise that so many guests come back. 10 stars!
