Jerà am Furtnerteich

The family and staff were so welcoming and attentive, we really felt looked after. They even had hot coffee ready on schedule for a friend's visit. The Italian food was excellent, with generously topped pizza and very tasty pasta. Portions were bigger than we expected. The salad was lovely too. Inside, the building is full of antiques; outside, the simple, cozy terrace looks out over the magical scenery of Furtnerteich, with nice music in the background. The location is idyllic, with wonderful views in any weather. Spring or summer seems ideal if you're after cool air, swimming or sunbathing. It's also good for kids, with playgrounds outside and toys for them to use indoors. The rooms aren't five-star, but you're not coming here for a basement gym or a fridge and microwave to make breakfast. You can get that from the restaurant downstairs. A few little details could use refreshing, though the value for Austria is decent. Our room was cleaned every day. Those wooden boats at the entrance have been there for more than 25 years. It was magic to recreate a childhood photo 25 years later, 3,000 kilometers away, with a friend who lives nearby. I also got an original Murauer bier mug as a souvenir for a token price. Priceless.
