Hotel Wende

I'd consider this place for seminars, or if there really isn't another option. The staff came across as harsh and unwelcoming, and seemed stressed even though the hotel wasn't full. Rooms are small, and the mattress was so soft I nearly sank into it. The TV was smaller than my laptop, so I watched Netflix on that instead. The spa looks dated and worn, with rust in almost every area. The food was awful. The buffet had no vegetarian choices, and everything was oily or baked and tasted bad. The waiters were rude and advised us not to order from the menu because the chefs were already too busy, while the buffet offered almost nothing. The salad was especially bad, since all the vegetables tasted days old rather than fresh. I won't spend time here again.

The food was the biggest disappointment for us. With two children, eating there wasn't a pleasant experience, and neither my wife nor I liked the meals. We stayed two nights as a family, and the atmosphere felt very negative from the moment we arrived. When my wife went to check the room, the receptionist decided to move us to a smaller one, explaining that we weren't the right number of people. What a joke of a hotel. 😡

Our flight was cancelled, so my colleagues and I ended up here for one night in a hotel arranged by Austrian airlines. We arrived around 8-8:30pm, after dinner had finished, and had to look for food nearby when almost everything was closed. The next morning we needed to catch an early airport bus, which the hotel knew about. We came down about 15 minutes before breakfast; everything was ready and the door was open. Then a man told us to leave. We tried to explain, but he didn't care, so we left our dishes and went. This was a year ago. At first I didn't think a review was worth writing since I hadn't chosen the hotel, but as someone who reads reviews, I can't recommend it. If something unexpected means you have to leave early, you could end up hungry because they stick to the schedule until the very last minute.

Getting to the lake is easy, just a short walk, and the rooms are fantastic. The restaurant food was amazing too. The staff were welcoming and professional at this family-run hotel, probably the best of the best. Absolutely amazing, highly recommend it, and I can't wait to return. 10/10 👍🏼
