Explorer Hotel Stubaital

The staff were kind, and that’s the one star. We won’t be back. Across the way, ongoing hotel maintenance made constant noise, and even the bathroom had no fan. The wellness area didn’t feel peaceful, with sliding doors separating it from the gym. There are three saunas, but using the area meant borrowing a towel at reception for €5 per person, not even a sauna sheet. Rooms had no fridge or basic amenities, supposedly for “ecology.” Breakfast was meager, and you have to make your own scrambled eggs and boil your own eggs. For the price, it’s not worth a visit, and I don’t recommend it.

The hotel is new and clean, and breakfast was nice. It’s well placed for several ski resorts, and having a spa is really handy after skiing. Good value for the price. Bring your own shampoo :)

The bike setup caught my eye, with a new tool station and lockers you can secure using a key card. We didn’t have bikes, but it looked very well thought out. The green branding isn’t really my taste, though it made the hotel easy to spot from the bus stop just nearby. We had a hearty breakfast before a day of hiking, and our clean, comfortable twin room suited us perfectly. The spa was much more than the sauna and relaxation space we expected from the pictures, with infrared and steam rooms too. The staff were friendly, and the whole stay exceeded what we’d expected.

It’s a quiet, peaceful spot, good for walks, though you do have to walk a bit to reach the city. There’s a big parking area, and you can buy a great storage room for skis or bikes. Everyone was smiling, the place was clean and tidy, and the food and beer were delicious. A nice hotel for a winter break.
