Hotel Almhof

After just one night here, I left feeling pretty disappointed and wouldn't stay again. Hygiene was poor throughout: cobwebs in the room, marked curtains, and hair everywhere. The room and bathroom were very dated and need renovation, though there was a safe and plenty of closet space. The front desk staff were friendly, but we asked for a day pass for a free activity and didn't receive it until after we'd bought our own cable car tickets and returned. By then, the pass was no use to us. Most of the food wasn't very good, though a few dishes were. Breakfast was enough, and the cake was delicious, but there were no croissants and cappuccino cost extra. The tea break had several kinds of cake, though the pastries tasted as if they'd come from a freezer. A card saying what each one was would have helped. The gym and other facilities were adequate but need replacing. We didn't use the sauna.

For a hotel with a 4-star rating, this was absolutely catastrophic. Our room was dirty when we arrived, with dead insects that stayed there for the whole visit. The soap was poor and ran out without being replaced, and we also ran out of toilet paper because housekeeping didn't refill it. The receptionist was extremely rude, turning away while we were speaking and not looking back. The walls were paper thin, so I could hear the neighbours talking quietly. There was barely any internet in many parts of the hotel, including our room. We had asked for a double room and double checked, but the bed had two separate mattresses. Breakfast was the same every morning, with a limited selection. The rooms were spacious, and it was nice that they offered free water at dinner.

Really friendly staff, and the food was awesome.

The service stood out, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The prices were fair, the food was good, and it's an excellent hotel. The spa area is small.
